IndyCars: Baltimore contract terminated

The city of Baltimore has ripped up its contract with the company tasked with organising last year's IndyCar race

The city of Baltimore has announced it has terminated the contract of Baltimore Racing Development (BRD) for non-compliance of terms previously set by the city council in order to save its contract. The termination is effective immediately.

Many who do not know much about Formula 1 and other forms of motor racing do not consider it to be a physically demanding sport. Compared to something like soccer, where the players are running for 90 minutes, or rugby, which takes an incredible toll on the body, a Formula 1 driver just has to sit in his car and steer for 100-200 laps over the course of an entire weekend, right?
