New race engineers at Mercedes GP for 2011
Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg will both be working with new race engineers next season, according to the latest reports.
French language Eurosport claims that Schumacher will team up with Mark Slade, formerly or McLaren and currently race engineer to Vitaly Petrov at Renault. Slade’s 15 years at McLaren saw him team up with a trio of Finns – Mika Häkkinen, Kimi Räikkönen and Heikki Kovalainen – with great success before he left the team at the beginning of the season due to a technical reshuffle.
Schumacher’s current engineer, Andy Shovlin – the man who worked alongside Jenson Button as he took his World Championship in 2009 at Brawn GP – is expected to assume a more general engineering role.
Rosberg will also have a new race engineer in 2011, the report claims, with Jock Clear being replaced by Tony Ross, who previously engineered Rosberg during his time at Williams.
